Established in 1973, the Indian Music Group has been organising concerts to fuel a passion for Indian classical music for over 50 years. It is the oldest and most iconic college-run Indian classical music institution in India, dedicated to the promotion of Indian Classical Music, mainly amongst the youth. It began as a small initiative taken up by three students- Chandu Kapadia, Harish Kapadia, and Yusuf Gandhi under the guidance of then principal, Fr. Lancy Pereira and the great Ustad Alla Rakha Khan. From organising small concerts and baithaks within the college, to today when IMG and its famous flagship event, Janfest are known to all, we have come a long way.

 

St. Xaviers college has been a strong pillar of support throughout the years, along with our faculty and our student committee members that have worked hard to preserve our legacy. IMG is a culturally rich and prestigious organisation, a result of the unending effort and perseverance that has been poured into it. With over half a century of experience under our belt we are eager to see what the future holds for us.
